The Blue Bus & Container

Partners: Blue 1647 /Ignite Technologies

BLUE1647/Blue Lacuna(TM) is an entrepreneurship and technology innovation center that fosters economic development in technology and 21st Century skills through people development, workforce development, and Business Acceleration. To continue to be a beacon of resources for the South and Westside families during changing political landscape and educational disinvestment Blue 1647/Ignite Technology approached Open Architecture Chicago to create a Mobile Tech Bus.

The BLUE BUS would enables Blue 1647/Ignite Technology to solve two of our most critical issues for the population they serve. Access to transportation for participation in their programs at our headquarters and (2) an opportunity to reach neighborhoods and communities for “pop-up” workshops that they have identified having difficulty reaching or challenges reaching their home physical location. With the Blue Bus, Blue 1647/Ignite Technology’s goal over a year is to have more than 50-75 pop-up workshops, serving over 1,000 students and organizations around the Chicago-land area.

This project will serve as a model in making technology education learning and instruction ubiquitous in more communities and further enable Blue Bus, Blue 1647/Ignite Technology to build awareness for our organization in evangelizing tech participation. Additionally, Blue Bus, Blue 1647/Ignite Technology intends to replicate this model from Latin American countries, African countries, and the Caribbean, and look forward to using this pilot as our way of engaging students around the world.
